Latin American Policy Leader Series - Visit of Regional Director of UN Women for Latin America & Caribbean

The Yale MacMillan Center Council on Latin American and Iberian Studies, Fox International Fellowship Program, and Program on Peace and Development are delighted to announce the 2022 Latin American Policy Leader Series. From January to May 2022, the Yale community will have the opportunity to hear from and discuss with high-level Latin American experts and policymakers about how we can work together towards a more equal and just world.

The First Growing Season: Saving and Investment Strategies for Young Adult Years

Join the Future Leaders of Yale, Yale African American Affinity Group, Yale Latino Networking Group, and Working Women’s Network for the next Building Wealth Generator Series event entitled “The First Growing Season: Saving and Investment Strategies for Young Adult Years”. We will discuss step by step building emergency fund, maximizing 401(k) contributions, and step by step building investments.

Guest speakers will include Stephen R. Vaughan and Eric Judge, CFP. This event will be moderated by Elvin Turner, JD, MBA.

A Woman of Endurance

Join the Yale African American Affinity Group, Working Women’s Network, and Yale Latino Networking Group for a conversation with Dahlma Llanos-Figueroa about her new book A Woman of Endurance.

A Woman of Endurance illuminates a little discussed aspect of history—the Puerto Rican Atlantic Slave Trade—witnessed through the experiences of Pola, an African captive used as a breeder to bear more slaves. It is ultimately, a novel of the triumph of the human spirit even under the most brutal of conditions.

Afro-Peruvian Family Dance Class

In honor of Black History Month, join the Yale African American Affinity Group, Future Leaders of Yale, Working Women’s Network, and Yale Latino Networking Group for an Afro-Peruvian Family Dance Class with Cunamacué.

Attendees will learn to dance the Festejo (the most popular and festive rhythm within Afro-Peruvian culture), and about instruments that are unique to Afro-Peruvian music. All ages are welcomed.

Cunamacué is an Afro-Peruvian dance company based in Oakland, California that is dedicated to promoting Afro-Peruvian culture through its music and dance.
