Supporting Hurricane Maria Evacuees - Volunteers Needed!

December 31, 2017

The City of New Haven and Junta for Progressive Action (Junta) are working with families impacted by Hurricane Maria, who have relocated to New Haven from Puerto Rico and other Caribbean Islands.

Junta is in need of bi-lingual (Spanish and English) volunteers to help evacuees with the FEMA application process, 211 and referrals to other basic needs services. Support is needed Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 1pm and 1pm to 5pm, preferably for two or more shifts. 2 volunteers are needed on the 9am-1pm shift; and 1 volunteer during the 1pm-5pm shift. Volunteers will likely be needed into the new year.

Since this activity takes place during regular work hours, staff members who wish to participate should gain approval from their supervisors. To volunteer, please fill out the web form here with your contact information and availability. Please email maria.bouffard@yale.edu if you have any questions.

This activity is being sponsored by the Yale Latino Networking Group and coordinated by the Yale Office of Emergency Management.
