January 28, 2014

I am honored to announce that on Monday, February 3, Yale University will host a conversation with the Honorable Sonia Sotomayor ’79 J.D., Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. The conversation will take place in Woolsey Hall from 1:45 to 2:35 p.m., moderated by Judith Resnik, Arthur Liman Professor of Law at Yale Law School.

I am pleased to extend an invitation to the Yale community and to other special guests from the New Haven community to join us for this exciting event. Space is limited and registration is required. To register, please respond at this link as soon as possible.

After registering, you will receive a notification confirming your attendance, which will serve as the ticket that you must either print or display on a handheld device in order to enter the event. If the number of prospective attendees exceeds the seating capacity of Woolsey Hall, you will receive a notification containing waitlist information.

Justice Sotomayor returns to campus after being awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws at Yale University Commencement in 2013, at which the citation characterized her many contributions to our nation:

“From the Bronx to the bench of our nation’s highest court, by way of Yale Law School, your path has been marked by energy, intelligence, and perseverance. Grounded in your experience as a prosecutor, federal trial judge and appeals court judge, your wisdom now informs constitutional questions of the highest importance. Your jurisprudence is impartial and yet situated, objective and yet involved, tough and yet caring. Your alma mater takes pride in your inspiring journey and your uncompromising commitment to equality and justice.”

I hope you can join us as we welcome Justice Sotomayor back to New Haven and to Yale.

Sincerely,

Kimberly M. Goff-Crews
